The University of Kentucky recently capped
the framing of its new hospital complex
by laying in a steel beam emblazoned with
the logo of Bloomington-based software-development
company 39°N (see below).
Dean Jay A. Perman, M.D. announced the U.
of K.'s $450 million plan to replace their
existing hospital in June of 2006, calling
for a multi-phase expansion of its research
centers and the construction of an academic
medical campus. 39°N was brought on board
in early 2009 to provide web-based facilities-management
software to allow the U.K. staff to track
furniture, equipment and technology during
their move into the new facility, as well
as for supervising these resources in their
new locations. In their race to finish this
cutting-edge system before the construction
of the new hospital is completed, 39°N's
GIS experts have been working closely with
the University of Kentucky's interaction
designers to insure that this application
will streamline the daily workflows of the
staff responsible for inspecting rooms and
equipment.
