Bloomington, Indiana – geoConvergence, LLC (doing business as 39 DEGREES NORTH) is proud to announce its acceptance into the United States Small Business Administration’s 8(a) Business Development Program. 39 DEGREES NORTH is a Bloomington-based GIS company formed in 2004 that provides cloud engineering, cybersecurity, geospatial services and software engineering.
The announcement follows a culmination of a 471-day effort from the initial application submission to the final acceptance. According to a Small Business Administration report from 2017, there were 30.2 million small businesses in the United States. As of June 2019, only 5,985 of them have successfully completed the process of obtaining their 8(a) certification. This certification has a nine-year lifespan and allows participants to compete for set-aside and sole-sourced federal contracts.
The business development program also provides assistance from the SBA in navigating federal contracting, guidance in forming joint ventures, and management assistance (including business training, counseling, marketing assistance and high-level executive development).
“We are very much looking forward to this opportunity to build new partnerships and expand our operations with the Federal Government. This will also allow us to offer new IT services to the local and state customers in Indiana who have been supportive and instrumental in the success of our company,” says Prem Radhakrishnan (CEO).
